Starknet Buka Voting Keluar dari Ethereum - Kejar Perlindungan Kuantum Dua Tahun Lebih Cepat dari Induknya

Starknet Opens Vote to Exit Ethereum - Pursuing Quantum Security Two Years Ahead of Parent Chain

STRK token holders now face a pivotal choice regarding the future of their network. From October 15 to October 22, 2026, Starknet is holding a seven-day governance vote to gauge community sentiment on a potential split from Ethereum. Network developer StarkWare is weighing the option of shedding its Layer-2 status to transition into a standalone Layer-1 blockchain.

The primary focus centers on a single issue: post-quantum computing protection. For StarkWare, the security upgrade schedule on Ethereum’s mainnet is seen as too slow to keep pace with potential threats from next-generation computing.

A Two-Year Gap from Ethereum’s Roadmap

Starknet currently relies on Ethereum’s infrastructure for bridging and data availability. This structural dependency ties Starknet’s quantum protection timeline directly to upgrades on the parent network.

StarkWare CEO Eli Ben-Sasson stated that quantum security is an urgent priority and Starknet must act swiftly. StarkWare aims for Starknet to become the first fully quantum-resistant network by 2027.

That target sits two years ahead of Ethereum’s roadmap. Ethereum’s dedicated post-quantum development team, established in March 2026, is only targeting initial protocol-level defenses by 2029. This timeline gap prompted the consideration of transitioning into an independent Layer-1, giving Starknet the flexibility to deploy defense mechanisms without waiting for Ethereum’s upgrade schedule.

At its base layer, Starknet’s cryptographic architecture relies on STARK proofs rooted in mathematics without conventional elliptic-curve assumptions. This model is claimed to be resilient against quantum computing attacks, backed by native account abstraction.

An Initial Signal, Not a Final Decision

Despite discussions surrounding the split, the vote is non-binding. STRK holders are presented with three options: supporting further research into the network split, rejecting it, or remaining neutral while awaiting additional information.

A “Yes” vote does not grant an immediate mandate to execute the network transition. It purely serves as a signal of approval for developers to explore the technical aspects in greater depth, with subsequent proposals and governance votes still required before any system changes take effect.

Regarding user assets, the proposal confirms that STRK will remain the network’s native cryptocurrency, with no plans to issue a replacement token. Existing bridges will also continue to operate.

For STRK holders, this seven-day vote represents an initial crossroad: whether Starknet remains tethered to Ethereum, or breaks away to secure a two-year head start in quantum defense.
