Fork BIP-110 Gagal Total, Luke Dashjr Didepak dari Kursi Editor BIP - Ini 4 Pelanggarannya

BIP-110 Fork Fails Completely, Luke Dashjr Ousted as BIP Editor - Here Are His 4 Violations

Luke Dashjr has officially lost his seat as a Bitcoin Improvement Proposal (BIP) editor. The removal is the fallout from the collapse of the BIP-110 soft fork - his proposal aimed at temporarily blocking non-financial data like Ordinals from the Bitcoin transaction network.

This technical coup was spearheaded by fellow editor Mark Erhardt, also known as Murch. On August 9, Murch submitted a motion to the Bitcoin Development Mailing List and immediately followed it up by opening a pull request to remove Dashjr’s name from the BIP 3 guidelines document.

Long List of Editorial Violations

Murch did not come empty-handed. He laid out four primary reasons why his colleague should be removed. First, Dashjr was deemed to have acted inconsistently in exercising his editorial authority and frequently favored his own proposals.

The second violation relates to communication flow. Dashjr announced the BIP-110 number directly on his X account, preempting the mandatory discussion that should have taken place on the developer mailing list. Third, he executed the merge process just minutes after the pull request was opened, bypassing the standard review process.

The fourth reason highlights his lack of active contribution. Since additional new editors joined in April 2024, Dashjr’s comment record as a BIP editor dwindled to below 1%. This series of actions ultimately exhausted the community’s patience.

A Fork That Died in Eight Hours

Outside the developer meeting rooms, support for BIP-110 on the ground also met a bitter end. The proposal failed to win the sympathy of Bitcoin miners. Peak support for BIP-110 topped out at 51 out of 2,016 blocks. This figure is equivalent to just 2.53% - far below the 55% minimum threshold required for activation.

This rejection became even clearer when the mandatory signaling phase began at block 961,632. Once this point was passed, not a single new block signaled support for BIP-110. The network fork, which was briefly active, met a grim fate, mining only two blocks in an eight-hour span before shutting down completely.

Responding to these dynamics, Michael Saylor noted that 99.85% of the global computing power, or hashpower, remains solid in securing the mainstream Bitcoin network. This figure sealed the market’s rejection of Dashjr’s vision.

Amid this failure, Dashjr hit back with harsh comments. He labeled the current majority chain as “Bpedo” and claimed that his proposed fork was bound to fail anyway.

Concluding the drama, Dashjr announced a leave of absence from his roles as Chairman and CTO at the Ocean mining pool. He will use this free time to focus entirely on Bitcoin open-source development projects. For the remaining developers, his departure opens up an opportunity to restructure their internal procedures.
