Machi Big Brother Jual 60 Lebih NFT Demi Modal Leverage - Telan Rugi Lampaui 1.000 ETH

Machi Big Brother Sells Over 60 NFTs to Fund Leveraged Trades - Losses Exceed 1,000 ETH

Veteran crypto collector Jeffrey Huang, widely known by his social media handle @machibigbrother, has sold more than 60 non-fungible tokens (NFTs) from his collection over the past six months. On-chain tracking data from Lookonchain (@lookonchain on X) reveals that these asset sales were directly tied to his activities in the derivatives market. Jeffrey diverted funds from offloading dozens of digital collectibles to inject fresh capital into high-leverage perpetual trades.

The speculative maneuver resulted in realized losses exceeding 1,000 ETH. Based on prevailing crypto market values at the time of the trades, those losses amounted to roughly $2.35 million, or more than Rp37 billion.

Selling Off Collections to Cover Margin Positions

Capitulation among high-profile collectors is becoming evident across the Web3 ecosystem. Jeffrey, one of the most influential whales in the space, was forced to sacrifice the digital art and collectibles accumulated over the years to keep his derivatives trading positions from facing liquidation.

High-leverage futures trading multiplies capital exposure using borrowed funds. This mechanism requires market participants to maintain minimum collateral balances whenever price charts move against their positions. To meet margin calls and keep his positions open, Jeffrey opted to liquidate more than 60 of his NFTs over a six-month span.

Derivatives Account Balance Plunged to $5,000

The financial pressure on Jeffrey Huang adds to a mounting string of trading losses across his portfolio. Just days before Lookonchain disclosed these sell-offs, the margin balance in Machi’s derivatives account plummeted drastically to a mere $5,000 amid a broader crypto market downturn.

The remaining collateral balance of just $5,000 highlighted how razor-thin his account’s safety margin had become before he was forced to seek additional capital. As crypto markets continued to soften, liquidity injections from liquidating dozens of digital artworks failed to prevent the perpetual positions from plunging into millions of dollars in losses.

For crypto market participants, Machi Big Brother’s ordeal serves as a stark reminder of the perils of high-leverage trading. Even holding tens of billions of rupiah worth of assets can evaporate rapidly when forced to prop up speculative positions betting against market trends.
