One of South Korea’s largest mobile game developers has expanded its blockchain portfolio by bringing a popular anime intellectual property into the crypto token ecosystem. Through its specialized blockchain gaming division, MARBLEX, Netmarble officially announced the launch of a new Non-Fungible Token (NFT) collection. Based on the hit fantasy manga and anime series “The Seven Deadly Sins,” also known as Nanatsu no Taizai, the collection debuts under the specific title “Revival of the Commandments.”
The name “Revival of the Commandments” is rooted in the source material, referencing a major story arc from the manga centered on the resurrection of the main antagonist group known as The Commandments. The addition of this franchise expands MARBLEX’s growing portfolio, which has previously rolled out several GameFi titles and gaming ecosystems based on renowned IPs. All of these projects operate under a single blockchain ecosystem powered by its native token, MBX.
Interactive Experiences, Not Static Collectibles
There is a fundamental difference in the assets Netmarble is releasing this time compared to typical profile-picture NFTs. According to reports from South Korean gaming publication Inven Global and Asia Economic Journal, the The Seven Deadly Sins project is classified as “Experiential” NFTs. Rather than serving as static images sitting in a buyer’s crypto wallet, this model is designed to provide an interactive gaming experience for holders.
This development trajectory aligns with broader Web3 industry trends bridging popular anime IPs with the NFT gaming sector. For an established developer like Netmarble, integrating intellectual property with blockchain architecture is seen as a way to monetize existing gaming assets. This model enables the company to tap into a massive, established fanbase - transforming traditional player engagement into digital asset ownership.
A Shift in How Players Spend Money
MARBLEX’s strategy highlights a noticeable shift in how gaming franchises monetize fan engagement. By packaging characters from The Commandments arc into interactive assets on the crypto network, Netmarble is encouraging players to participate through MBX token ownership rather than conventional in-game purchases. For anime fans diving in, the line between regular gaming and digital asset management is becoming increasingly blurred.
