Crypto exchange Coinbase has announced the suspension of trading for two crypto assets, BADGER and STORJ, effective September 28, 2026, at 2:00 PM ET. The suspension is comprehensive and will be implemented simultaneously across all its service lines, including Coinbase.com Simple and Advanced Trade, Coinbase Exchange, and its institutional-grade platform Coinbase Prime.
The exchange remained tight-lipped regarding the reasons behind the delisting decision. Coinbase did not disclose any specific technical criteria, legal issues, compliance standards, or market factors that triggered the delisting schedule for BADGER and STORJ. At the time of the official announcement, the STORJ token was trading around the $0.074 price level.
Limit-Only Mode Takes Effect Early
Although the full suspension will not occur until late September, transaction restrictions on the trading platform are already underway. Order books for BADGER and STORJ trading pairs have now been fully moved to limit-only mode. During this transition phase, traders face restricted functionality as they are only permitted to place new limit orders and cancel existing ones, while instant executions via market orders can no longer be processed by the system.
For customers still holding balances, withdrawal access remains guaranteed without disruption. Users will still be able to withdraw BADGER - the governance token for a DeFi project focused on bringing Bitcoin-related assets into decentralized ecosystems - and STORJ - the primary payment token in a decentralized cloud storage ecosystem - to external wallets even after September 28.
Coinbase emphasized that no withdrawal deadline has been imposed. However, users must transfer their assets manually as the exchange will not provide an automatic conversion program for either asset, an approach that differs from its previous handling of the DAI token delisting.
IoTeX and Five Other Tokens Precede
The delisting of BADGER and STORJ is part of a broader token removal schedule by the exchange in September. Ahead of the September 28 deadline, trading for IoTeX (IOTX) will also be permanently halted on September 23, 2026, at 2:00 PM ET.
The trimming of listed assets continues a trend that began the previous month. Throughout August, Coinbase suspended five tokens at once, including IDEX, LRC, OMNI, PIRATE, and FIS. The sequence of eight consecutive token delistings within two months demonstrates that the exchange’s review process remains active with no leniency for tokens that fail to meet its listing metrics.
