USD1 Masuk Pasar Institusi $9 Triliun Sebulan - Tapi Izin Penerbit Aslinya Masih Tertahan Syarat $20 Juta

USD1 Enters $9T Monthly Institutional Market - But Issuer’s License Hinges on $20M Capital Requirement

World Liberty Financial launched its native USD1 stablecoin on Canton Network on August 25, 2026. The move integrates USD1 into an institutional network that routinely processes and issues over $9 trillion in tokenized assets every month.

USD1 currently holds a market capitalization of $4.05 billion, ranking as the sixth-largest stablecoin according to data from DeFiLlama. Its rollout on Canton also unlocks a new liquidity pipeline into a market where more than $350 billion in on-chain US debt instruments change hands daily.

The decision to mint tokens natively on the network eliminates a key risk vector for trillion-dollar institutional transactions.

Synchronization in a Single Transaction

Native issuance allows the transfer of USD1 and tokenized assets to settle simultaneously within a single transaction. This synchronized framework eliminates settlement risk, where one party delivers an asset before the counterparty completes payment.

Fund managers can now use USD1 for derivative collateral, institutional lending, asset issuance, redemptions, and 24/7 cross-border payments. This high-volume transaction model was previously demonstrated in May 2025, when Abu Dhabi-based investment firm MGX utilized USD1 to complete a $2 billion investment transaction in Binance.

The initial agreement between World Liberty and Canton operators was publicly announced in December 2025. At the time, USD1’s circulating market capitalization hovered around $2 billion.

Who Holds the Reserves

Despite the naming, World Liberty Trust Company does not yet directly manage USD1 operations. The US Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) only granted conditional charter approval on August 14. Under the terms, the entity cannot commence operations until it deposits and maintains a minimum capital requirement of $20 million.

For now, that crucial role remains with BitGo Bank & Trust, which handles both token minting and redemptions. The reserves backing USD1 are held in US dollar deposits, US government money market funds, and cash equivalents, with reserve breakdown reports published monthly.

Transition Awaiting Final Approval

Once the OCC grants full operational authorization, World Liberty Trust will assume all issuance and reserve management functions from BitGo. Amid this transition, the venture’s ties to the Trump family have sparked a flurry of questions from Democratic lawmakers in Washington.

For bond traders, USD1 is simply another tool to move massive liquidity without being constrained by traditional banking hours. As long as blockchain rails operate seamlessly without freezing funds, political debates on Capitol Hill remain little more than a sideshow for market participants.
